Movie-going population barometer April 2017

In April 2017, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (54.1%, compared to 52.8% in March 2017).
The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience increased (16.2% in April 2017 compared to 12.1% in March 2017). Cumulatively, over the four last months of 2017, the share of 3-14 years old reached 13.9%. The share of 15-24 years old is stable in April 2017 (20.7%, compared to 20.2% in March), whereas the share of seniors decreased (22,5%, compared to 27.4% in March).
The share of the upper socio-professional category is stable (32.8% compared to 32.3% in March 2017), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” increased (42.5% compared to 41.8% in March 2017). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren, students in the movie-going audience (+4,1 percentage points compared to March 2017).
In April 2017, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during week 16 (27.9%). Globally, frequent cinemagoers accounted for 25.0% of moviegoers in April (compared to 24.9% in March) and occasional cinemagoers made up 16.6% (16.6% in March).
