Movie-going population barometer February 2018
In February 2018, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (51.2%, 54.7% in January 2018).
The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience decreased (13.3% in February 2018 compared to 15.6% in January). The share of 15-24 years old increased (22.1%, compared to 20.7% in January 2018), whereas the share of seniors decreased (23.3%, compared to 24.3% in January). In February 2018, the average age of cinemagoers is 35 years.
The share of the upper socio-professional category decreased (32.5% compared to 33.1% in January 2018), as the share of “non-working individuals” (41.0% compared to 42.4% in January 2018). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren, students (-1.6 percentage point compared to January).
In February 2018, the proportion of occasionnal cinemagoers was relatively high during week 7 (22.5%). Globally, occasionnal cinemagoers accounted for 20.6% of moviegoers in February (compared to 16.5% in January) and frequent cinemagoers made up 23.4% (25.7% in January).
