Movie-going population barometer January 2018
In January 2018, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (54.7%, 56.3% in December 2017).
The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience is stable (15.6% in January 2018 compared to 15.8% in December 2017), as the share of 15-24 years old (20.7% in January 2018 and in December 2017). The share of seniors increased (24.3%, compared to 22.8% in December). In January 2018, the average age of cinemagoers is 35 years.
The share of the upper socio-professional category is stable (33.1% compared to 33.4% in December 2017), as the share of “non-working individuals” (42.4% compared to 41.9% in December 2017).
In January 2018, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during weeks 2 to 4 (over 27%). Globally, frequent cinemagoers accounted for 25.7% of moviegoers in January (compared to 23.9% in December) and occasionnal cinemagoers made up 16.5% (21.2% in December).
