According to the last estimates by the CNC, admissions in film theatres reached 24.99 million in February 2017, and thus decreased compared to February 2016 (-3.8 %). Over the two first months of 2017, cinema admissions totalled 41.64 million (2.5 % less than over the two first months of 2016). Over the last 12 months, theater attendance reached 211.90 million, which represented a growth of 1.5% compared to the 12 months preceding February 2016.
The market share of French Films was 45.2% over the two first months of 2017 (41.4% over January-February 2016) and the market share of American Films amounted to 48.4 % (49.7 % over January-February 2016). Over the last 12 months, the market share of French film was 36.5%, while American films captured 52.2% and others films represented 11.3% of the market.
